Dianna Russini adds unnecessary fuel to A.J. Brown-Eagles trade talk wildfire

After two good games from Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, most would expect that the chatter of a trade would calm down. Nope, it only got worse.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini's latest report stated that while the Eagles are not actively looking to trade Brown, some within the league don't believe this. Russinin spoke with an AFC general manager who believes Eagles general manager Howie Roseman will strike a deal to move Brown.

"The Eagles will continue to insist they have no plans to trade Brown, their star receiver. But every week that passes with problems piling up makes decision-makers around the league wonder. One league source told me: “Brown doesn’t look frustrated or mad — he looks indifferent. And that’s not a good place to be.” A GM in the AFC said, “I think Howie (Roseman) moves him. It would have to be for the right player or pick, but (a trade) wouldn’t surprise me. Howie likes deals, especially if a player’s value overrides how Brown is being used.”

Most teams anticipate the asking price to be steep. Expect more calls as we near November."

Everyone keeps forgetting the key part of a Brown trade if it would happen

Brown is coming off the second-best game of the season as he had six catches for 80 yards, including a 30-yard completion in the 34-17 loss to the New York Giants. A solid game for Brown, but that won't stop the insane narrative that he's going to be traded.

One thing to keep in mind with Brown is the dead cap that comes with him. Here is a breakdown of how that looks:

2025 - $80,811,228
2026 - $67,901,421
2027 - $27,161,614
2028 - $15,421,807
2029 - $5,716,000

There is a financial burden that would be tough to handle. The Eagles would need a team willing to take on that kind of money and help Philly avoid dealing with that.

Roseman is also going to ask for a high price for a Brown trade. Most likely, it would take a first-round pick to make it happen, but if financial relief is involved, maybe a second-round pick could facilitate a deal before next month's trade deadline.

This season has been miserable for Eagles fans dealing with Brown. From his cryptic post after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game to "not remembering" the Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley meeting, it always seems to be something with him.

Who knows what the right move is, but the Eagles don't get help with the financial part of Brown's contract, nothing is going to happen with a trade. It may be the hot thing to talk about, but everyone has to move on from that narrative.
