NFL teams without head coaching vacancies have contacted John Harbaugh.
Are the New York Jets one of them?
The Baltimore Ravens fired longtime head coach John Harbaugh after their season-ending loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Amidst multiple injuries to two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, the Ravens finished 8-9 after they began the year among the top Super Bowl favorites.
Despite the disappointing outcome, more than a quarter of the NFL remains heavily interested in the 63-year-old coach, who compiled a 180-113 regular-season record and a 13-11 playoff record across 18 seasons in Baltimore.
That includes multiple teams who currently have a head coach.
According to Gary Myers, Harbaugh has already received inquiries from nine teams. Given that there are only six head coaching vacancies outside of Baltimore, it appears that at least three teams with a head coach have reached out to Harbaugh.
Couple of John Harbaugh nuggets:

1. He is expected to start interviewing by the end of the week.
2. The Giants so far have shown as much if not more interest as any team. Nine teams already have made inquiries and there are only six openings — not counting the Ravens. Sounds…
Are the Jets one of those teams?
That’s unknown at the moment. There have yet to be any reports regarding which teams have expressed interest in Harbaugh. It is likely that every team with a vacancy has reached out to the Super Bowl champion, but the three-plus teams with head coaches wouldn’t dare let news of their interest leak out unless a hiring was imminent.
It is unlikely that the Jets have shown interest in Harbaugh. Current head coach Aaron Glenn just held an end-of-year press conference alongside general manager Darren Mougey on Tuesday, hours before the news of Harbaugh’s firing. While it is possible that the surprising Harbaugh news could have changed Woody Johnson’s plans, Johnson and the Jets have appeared committed to giving Glenn a second year ever since the team’s trade deadline fire sale.
However, Glenn’s record-setting ineptitude in his debut season raises legitimate questions about whether Johnson, an owner who is known for rash decisions and headline-chasing moves, could be among those who reached out to Harbaugh despite currently having a head coach.
While Glenn faced low expectations in 2025 (especially after the deadline), he still fell well below the minuscule bar that he had set for the team himself. Glenn stated in September that his goal was simply to make Jets fans proud. After watching their team produce the third-worst efficiency of all time on plays from scrimmage, Jets fans are anything but proud.
Considering Glenn’s minimal odds of future success, would it really be smart business for Johnson to adhere to Glenn without at least checking in on a coach of Harbaugh’s caliber?
The answer to that question is subjective, and the reality as to whether Johnson has inquired about Harbaugh is currently unknown to the public. This entire conversation is speculative at the moment.
For many Jets fans, though, it could be frustrating to see the team sit on its hands with Glenn as multiple intriguing head coaching candidates hit the market. Harbaugh is joined by accomplished offensive minds such as Kevin Stefanski, Kliff Kingsbury, and Todd Monken in the crop of candidates who are expected to be highly coveted in this year’s cycle.
