The Carolina Panthers did the Chicago Bears a huge favor on Sunday by officially clinching the number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Thanks to the blockbuster deal between the two teams last spring that netted the Panthers the No. 1 pick in last year's draft, the Bears will have control of the first pick in this year's draft.
Included in that trade was wide receiver DJ Moore in addition to other draft picks. The Panthers clearly missed his presence as Young had little to work with at receiver. Following Sunday's win over Atlanta, Moore now has new single-season career highs in receptions (92), yards (1,300) and touchdowns (8).
During postgame media availability in the Bears locker room, Moore was asked about the Panthers handing over the top pick.
“I mean, s***, I feel like I was the number one pick when they traded for me. But, I mean, thanks to Carolina, that’s all I can say to that," Moore said. "It's no bad blood to them. Like I said, I felt like the number one overall pick even though I went 24th in the draft but shoot, to come here, I just felt like the number one overall pick. It's a good fortune, I mean we got more wins than them so at the end of the day it worked better in my favor."
