The Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks made the D.K. Metcalf trade official on Thursday.
The trade was agreed to on Sunday but couldn't be announced until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday since that's when the 2025 NFL league year started. The Steelers acquired Metcalf and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and gave up second and seventh-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Metcalf was in Pittsburgh on Thursday to sign his contract and get his new jersey number, No. 4.
The Steelers announced that he'd be wearing the new number after he signed his new contract extension.

Fellow wide receiver George Pickens already wears No. 14, and Metcalf told the media during his introductory press conference on Thursday that he never asked Pickens to give it up.
The Steelers now have a strong one-two punch at wide receiver for the 2025 season. They have been trying to acquire another star wideout for the last year and finally got one in Metcalf.
Defenses will have to plan carefully for Pickens and Metcalf since they can make any type of catch. Metcalf finished the 2024 season with 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns.
He has compiled 900+ receiving yards in all six of his NFL seasons and has gone over 1,000 yards in three of them. His best individual season came in 2020 when he compiled 83 receptions for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The only thing the Steelers are missing on offense is a starting quarterback. They signed Mason Rudolph to a two-year deal, but he is expected to be the backup to Aaron Rodgers if they land him. They're still waiting to hear from Rodgers and have an offer on the table for him.
The Steelers finished the 2024 season with a 10-7 record before losing to the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
