Do Browns have Deion Sanders concerns regarding Shedeur Sanders?

The New York Giants hold the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and seemingly could consider acquiring Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders via that asset.

It appears Sanders may not fall to the Giants on the opening night of the player-selection process.

While speaking with reporters at the Senior Bowl Tuesday, Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry was directly asked if he had any concerns that Colorado head coach Deion Sanders could tell the Browns his son has no interest in featuring for the AFC North club.

"I don’t anticipate that being a problem," Berry responded, as shared by Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns possess the draft's second overall pick.

The perception exists among some analysts that Shedeur Sanders wants to end up with the Giants and that Deion Sanders would advise the signal-caller to not play for the Browns. Cleveland has been responsible for a quarterback graveyard since 1999, has notched a single postseason win over the past three decades and Berry and head coach (Kevin Stefanski) could presumably be fired roughly 12 months from now if the club misses the playoffs for a second-straight year.

"We have a lot of respect for 'Coach Prime,'" Berry said about Deion Sanders. "I think the program that he’s built at Colorado is (impressive) with hard-nosed, tough, disciplined kids. I have a ton of respect for him and all the players coming out of that program. That’s evident not only with Shedeur but all the kids who were at the Shrine Game from Colorado. You could really see his impact on them."

The Browns were linked by insiders with Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe before his Senior Bowl hand measurements came in smaller than expected and before he reportedly had a rough practice on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday, The Athletic's Nick Baumgardner and Scott Dochterman predicted the Browns would take cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter over Sanders and QB Cam Ward with pick No. 2. In such a scenario, Cleveland could look to grab a quarterback such as Milroe or Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart in the second round.

"It’s too early to know what strategic direction we’ll take," Berry said. While Berry was sure to point out he feels "Shedeur is a really impressive young man," the executive added that "there are really high-level prospects at other positions, too."
