Do The Eagles Have Another Pro Bowl Center?
USA Today

The Philadelphia Eagles faced a daunting question entering the 2024 season: Could anyone adequately replace future Hall of Famer Jason Kelce at center? Sixteen games later, Cam Jurgens has delivered a resounding answer.

Transitioning from right guard to his natural position at center, Jurgens has been instrumental in maintaining the dominance of Philadelphia's offensive line. His athleticism, sharp football IQ, and seamless chemistry with quarterback Jalen Hurts have kept the Eagles' offense operating at an elite level.

Most notably, Jurgens has played a key role in Saquon Barkley's historic 2,000-yard rushing season, consistently creating clean running lanes and showcasing his agility in space. His ability to execute complex blocking schemes has helped Philadelphia remain one of the NFL's most feared rushing attacks.

"Cam is the center of a 13-win football team," head coach Nick Sirianni said. "He's played good football for us to be able to do that. You’ve got a 2,000-yard rusher, which is special, and the center's got to play good for that to happen as well."

Jurgens' journey to this role was no accident. Hand-picked by Kelce himself in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Nebraska product spent two seasons learning under the Eagles legend before stepping into the starting role this year. The preparation has paid off, with Jurgens delivering both consistency and flashes of brilliance in his first full season at center.

While there have been occasional challenges—most notably with the Eagles' signature "Tush Push" play—Jurgens has more than lived up to expectations. With potential Pro Bowl honors on the horizon, he's proven that Philadelphia's succession plan was every bit as well-executed as their blocking schemes.

Jurgens stands as a cornerstone of an offensive line that continues to set the gold standard in the NFL. The post-Kelce era may have arrived, but thanks to Cam Jurgens, the Eagles haven’t missed a beat.
