Dolphins Birthday: Legendary Quarterback Dan Marino Turns 65

Perhaps the greatest member of the Miami Dolphins ever to don the aqua and orange, legendary quarterback Dan Marino celebrates his 65th birthday today! He was born Sept. 15, 1961.

Drafted in the first round out of Pittsburgh in the 1983 NFL Draft, Dan Marino spent the entirety of his 17-year NFL career with the Miami Dolphins. At the time of his retirement, Marino held virtually ever major career passing record.   A 9-time Pro Bowl selection and 3-time first-team All-Pro, Marino was named the league’s MVP in 1984. That season, he became the first player in NFL history to throw for 5,000 yards in a season, setting league records with 5,084 yards and 48 touchdown passes. Those marks would last for more than 20 years. That year, Marino also helped the Dolphins make their most recent Super Bowl appearance.   For his career, Marino threw for 61,361 yards and 420 touchdowns. He continues to be Miami’s all-time leader in yards, attempts, completions and touchdown passes.
