Dolphins' Chris Grier Makes Major Jalen Ramsey Announcement

It's somewhat questionable why the Miami Dolphins didn't move on from Jalen Ramsey before or during the NFL draft.

The Dolphins had a reason to keep him on the roster during the draft, as waiting until after June 1 to move Ramsey makes Financial sense. A trade before that would result in a $25.213 million dead money cap hit.

After June 1, a trade would be an $18 million hit for 2025. However, with the Dolphins having a few needs in the NFL draft, despite hitting some of them, moving Ramsey for a pick in this draft might’ve made the most sense.

Speaking to reporters about when a deal could come, general manager Chris Grier said that the team had conversations throughout the weekend. Clearly, however, nothing came about.

"We had conversations through the weekend with teams. Whenever it happens, we will make the deal at the appropriate time," he said, per NFL.com.

He later added that whenever the time comes, the Dolphins will explore a deal.

"Whenever those opportunities arise," Miami will explore them, he responded.

It'll be interesting to see what type of package Ramsey will get in return. It isn't likely that any team will give up more than a fourth-round pick for him, but things change.

If a team around the NFL believes he could be the missing piece in their secondary, anything is possible.

Ramsey doesn’t have much of a chance to return to the Dolphins during the 2025 season.

Anything could always be possible on that front, too, but Grier has made it known that the team is looking to trade him.
