Dolphins Claim WR Ryan Miller, Waive Tahj Washington

The Miami Dolphins continue to reshape their roster as they approach the final cutdown to 53 players.

Miami announced Tuesday that it has claimed wide receiver Ryan Miller off waivers from the New York Giants. To make room on the roster, the Dolphins waived wide receiver Tahj Washington.

The move gives Miami another option in what has become a crowded and competitive wide receiver room heading into the final preseason game.

Dolphins Add Ryan Miller

Miller brings NFL experience to Miami after spending the majority of his professional career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Originally signed by Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent out of Furman in 2023, Miller has appeared in 25 regular-season games with six starts. He has 14 career receptions for 162 yards and three touchdowns and also appeared in one postseason game.

The 6-foot-2, 221-pound receiver was claimed by the Giants after Tampa Bay waived him in December 2025. New York re-signed Miller during the offseason before waiving him Monday as the Giants began trimming their roster.

Miller actually got an up-close look at his new team recently. He played 32 offensive snaps for the Giants in their preseason victory over Miami on Saturday, although he did not record a reception.

His size could make him an interesting addition to Miami’s receiving corps. Miller also has experience contributing on special teams, something that could become particularly important for players competing for the final few spots on the Dolphins’ 53-man roster.

Tahj Washington‘s Time in Miami Ends

To make room for Miller, the Dolphins waived Tahj Washington.

Miami selected Washington in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft with the 241st overall pick out of USC. He spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve before appearing in six games with one start during the 2025 season.

Washington finishes his Dolphins tenure with three receptions for 37 yards.

The former USC standout entered the NFL after a productive college career. During three seasons with the Trojans, Washington caught 163 passes for 2,449 yards and 15 touchdowns. He previously played at Memphis before transferring to USC.

Washington’s chances of securing a roster spot appeared to be fading as Miami moved closer to final cuts. His final preseason appearance included a muffed punt in Saturday’s loss to the Giants.
