The Miami Dolphins are adding more firepower to their pass rush.

Veteran edge rusher Matt Judon is signing a one-year deal with Miami, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The contract is worth up to $6 million, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Judon, a four-time Pro Bowler with the Ravens and Patriots, arrives in Miami after a turbulent stretch. He forced his way out of New England’s disastrous 2024 season under Jerod Mayo, landing in Atlanta via trade last August. A year lat er, he entered free agency without a team before visiting the Dolphins on Monday and agreeing to join Mike McDaniel’s squad.

It’s a crowded room in Miami, with Bradley Chubb, first-round pick Chop Robinson, and Jaelan Phillips already in the fold. Still, the Dolphins wanted more depth and veteran reliability on the edge, and Judon fits that need.

Last season with Atlanta, Judon posted 5.5 sacks while serving as one of the few bright spots for a defense desperate for pass-rush help. His best years came in New England, where he recorded 12.5 sacks in 2021 and followed with 15.5 in 2022. Those days may be behind him, but Miami doesn’t need Judon to play at that level again.

Instead, the Dolphins envision him as part of a rotation in new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver’s system — a role that plays to his experience while keeping fresh legs in a deep and talented edge group.
