The 2026 NFL Draft has come and gone, and the Miami Dolphins added 13 new rookies to the roster. But how did new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan navigate the draft in his first year in the position with so much draft capital? He provided some insight about the club’s strategy for the draft on Saturday morning.
While guest appearing on “The Insiders” on the NFL Network, Sullivan claimed that the Dolphins focused on selecting the best player they felt was available at each pick. Although some moments may have been a bit hectic while working some trades, it appears Miami is very happy with the haul of rookies it acquired this offseason.
“We had a lot of fun,” said Sullivan. “It was fun, it was fast and furious, obviously, when you have all those picks. But I felt like we were prepared. We had a really good process, one that I have a lot of conviction in. The thing that I was really proud of is we executed. It’s one thing to have a process, to be prepared, it’s another thing to go execute…
“I feel like, most importantly, we helped our football team,” continued Sullivan. “I like what we did. We always took the best player available, and within that, we got to solidify a couple needs along the way.”
“If certain guys would’ve fallen to a certain point, I think we probably would’ve pulled the trigger.”

The Dolphins used one of their first-round picks on Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, who should step in as an immediate starter on the offensive line. Other notable selections included cornerback Chris Johnson in the first round, linebacker Jacob Rodriguez in round two, and wide receivers Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell in round three.
Once the draft was concluded, the Dolphins walked out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with seven offensive players and six defensive players. Miami will now focus on the remainder of the offseason and prepare the team for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
