Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel gives team warning before playing Patriots

The best way for the Miami Dolphins to move on from their 33-8 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 is to come out firing on all cylinders and earn a win over the New England Patriots in Week 2.

During his news conference on Wednesday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters that the loss was embarrassing for the organization. He warned his team that they could either learn from the defeat or let it become a habit.

“It was maddening the things we were doing or not doing,” McDaniel said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “It was not an individual or a unit or position group or a particular phase. It was a very consistent theme, which makes you think you have something to directly address moving forward. It doesn’t make it any easier...

"Players have been very focused on how they’ve conducted themselves. You either learn from it and becomes a reason for success or you fall victim to it for a second game in a row.”

The Miami Dolphins have to play better in Week 2

Another loss in Week 2, this time to an AFC East rival, could spell doom for the tenure of McDaniel, who finds himself on the hot seat after a humiliating showing in Week 1.

In their home opener, the Dolphins need to defeat a 0-1 Patriots team still working out the kinks with first-year head coach Mike Vrabel and second-year quarterback Drake Maye.

Miami's Week 1 meltdown was a complete disaster, and how they respond against the Patriots in Week 2 will be revealing.
