Dolphins Injury News: Proctor, Brents in Concussion Protocol

The Miami Dolphins are coming off their first victory of the 2026 season, but the team now has two new injury concerns to monitor as it prepares for its next game.

According to South Florida Sun Sentinel reporter David Furones, offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor and cornerback JuJu Brents are in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

The news comes at an unfortunate time for a Miami team trying to build momentum following its first win of the season against the New York Jets. As the Dolphins look to build their first winning streak under head coach Jeff Hafley, the potential absence of two players at key positions could create additional challenges.

Kadyn Proctor’s Status Creates Concern for Miami’s Offensive Line

For the Dolphins, Proctor’s situation is particularly concerning because keeping the offensive line together is crucial as the team continues developing its young players.

Proctor is a key piece of Miami’s long-term plans up front, and every game he plays gives him valuable experience as he adjusts to life in the NFL.

The Dolphins have already dealt with offensive line injuries and inconsistency this season. Losing Proctor for any length of time would force the coaching staff to adjust a unit that needs stability.

Quarterback Malik Willis is coming off his best performance of the season against the Jets, and Miami will want to build on that success.

Willis has struggled at times this season when facing pressure, making dependable offensive line play essential to the team’s offensive development.

If Proctor cannot clear the concussion protocol in time for Miami’s next game, the Dolphins will need to decide how to handle his absence while protecting Willis.

However, Proctor’s health is the most important consideration. The Dolphins cannot rush him back onto the field, regardless of the team’s offensive line needs.

JuJu Brents Adds Another Concern to the Dolphins’ Secondary

On defense, Brents entering concussion protocol creates another potential problem for Miami.

The Dolphins have dealt with injuries throughout their secondary this season, making experienced cornerbacks especially important.

Brents has already experienced injury-related interruptions this season. During Miami’s October 11 game against Cincinnati, he underwent a concussion evaluation and also dealt with neck stingers. He was cleared during that game to return from the concussion evaluation, but the neck issues ultimately forced him out.

Now, with Brents reportedly in concussion protocol, Miami must once again prepare to play without him.

The Dolphins’ defense made several timely plays in Sunday’s victory over the Jets. Maintaining that defensive improvement will be critical if Miami hopes to turn one victory into something more.

If Brents is unavailable, Hafley and his defensive coaching staff will need other cornerbacks to step forward.

For a young team still trying to establish its identity, injuries that disrupt continuity can make an already difficult rebuilding season even more challenging.

What Happens Next for Proctor and Brents?

Both players must progress through the NFL’s concussion protocol before the league clears them to return to game action.

The protocol includes multiple stages of recovery and increasing physical activity, with medical evaluations required before a player can return to full participation. There is no automatic timetable for clearance.

Being placed in concussion protocol does not automatically mean a player will miss the next game, but teams should not consider a player available until they receive the necessary medical clearance.

Miami’s upcoming practice reports will better indicate where both players stand.

Dolphins Cannot Afford More Setbacks

The Dolphins finally have something positive to build upon after defeating the Jets and avoiding an 0-6 start.

Willis played his best football of the season, the running game continued showing promise, and the defense made plays when Miami needed them most.

But injuries remain a significant storyline for this team.

For Hafley, the challenge is to keep the Dolphins moving forward while managing a roster already tested by injuries and growing pains.

Proctor and Brents both play important roles for the Dolphins, and their availability could shape how Miami approaches its next matchup.

For now, the Dolphins must prepare for multiple possibilities while giving both players the time they need to recover.
