Dolphins Reportedly Showing Promising Signs in OTAs

Although it's early, reports show many Miami Dolphins have performed well in OTAs thus far. Today was a rainy day, dominated by the defense, according to Travis Wingfield.

Bradley Chubb and Willie Gay each had sacks, and Ifeatu Melifonwu and Eugene Asante each had an interception.

None of those guys played for the Dolphins last year. Chubb was rehabbing from an ACL tear in 2023, Gay and Melifonwu were free agent acquisitions, and Asante is a rookie.

The Dolphins had a top 10-ranked defense in 2024, according to Football Database. With the additions in free agency and star players returning from injury, this defense should only get better.

Jordyn Brooks and Artie Burns both recorded tackles for loss, and Kader Kohou was a leader on defense.

"(Kohou's) leadership and professionalism is on display at every period. He steals extra reps. He coaches guys up. Artie Burns had a similar day and I think his combination of physicality and athleticism has been on display through two practices," Wingfield wrote.

Kohou is entering his fourth season with the Dolphins and taking on a leadership role in 2025. He's amassed 180 total tackles over his three years and collected two interceptions in 2024.

Artie Burns came over in free agency from the Seattle Seahawks and will be fighting for a starting role this offseason.

Chop Robinson had a sack today wearing the orange jersey, which means he was the standout player the previous day.

"(Robinson) racked up the pressures/hurries late in the day. He has this relentless nature that kind of defies physics. Even if he goes to the ground he can spring to his feet and stay in pursuit," Wingfield wrote.

Robinson was the Dolphins' first-round pick in 2024 and is expected to make a solid jump in his second season from his impressive rookie year.

It's early in the offseason, but if the Dolphins can stay healthy, their defense could easily make them contenders, led by their front four.
