With the 2025 NFL Draft just weeks out, teams around the league are in the final phase of assessing which incoming rookies they want to bring aboard for the upcoming season.
The Miami Dolphins are firmly in the mix. While their free agency moves have mostly flown under the radar, they’re still in a great spot to secure a top-tier prospect in the draft.
Holding the No. 13 overall pick, the Dolphins are in a strong position to select one of the premier talents in this year’s draft class.
Miami has several areas it could look to improve, including the offensive line — even more so after Terron Armstead announced his decision to retire from the NFL. According to CBS Sports analyst Chris Trapasso, the team may prioritize reinforcing that unit with its first-round pick.
In his most recent mock draft, Trapasso projects the Dolphins will select Oregon offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. in the first round.
Considered a top-five prospect in his position for this year’s class, Conerly is viewed as someone who can be a solid replacement for Armstead and a slide-in starter to protect quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Here's how Trapasso described the Dolphins' decision to draft the 21-year-old prospect:
Following their trade back, the Dolphins find an athletic replacement for Terron Armstead at left tackle -- or he can begin his career on the right side if Patrick Paul moves over.
If he adapts well to the pro level, Conerly could become a formidable presence on the offensive line. He has the potential to start from day one, no matter where he ends up.
