Dolphins Workout Former Bills Safety

Miami has summoned former Bills practice squad player Wande Owens for a tryout.

The former undrafted player out of New Hampshire spent the bulk of 2025 on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.

Released just last week, Owens already worked out for the Tennessee Titans.

Now, the Dolphins decided to give him a workout to further bolster the safety group. Owens played in two preseason games in 2025, tallying 5 tackles, 2 of which were for a loss.

Owens secured his spot on the practice squad by moving close to the line of scrimmage.

As a senior in 2024 on the New Hampshire roster, he recorded a team-high 111 tackles. He also returned his only interception for a 50-yard touchdown. Owens played at Yale prior to UNH.

Miami, on paper, has a lackluster safety room. Lots of young talent with little to no experience. Fortunately, safeties Dante Trader, Zayne Anderson and Major Burns have been standouts in the first week of camp. This wouldn’t stop the team from hunting for more talent, though, as they have also worked out numerous quarterbacks and receivers.

This new regime is not satisfied, and will not be satisfied until this team is in the Super Bowl.

Owens would just be another young, inexperienced piece if signed, but there is no reason to be sour about any workouts. Clearly there is promise for the player, with 2 teams already working him out and him surviving all of 2025 on the Bills’ practice squad.
