Dolphins Youngster Finds Himself On List Of 5 NFL RBs In Best Position of Breakout Season
Few players in the history of the Miami Dolphins franchise have been more dynamic rushers over their first two seasons with the team than running back De’Von Achane, whom the Dolphins used a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft on.
He ran for 800 rushing yards in the 2023 campaign and then proved his standout rookie season was no fluke when he followed that up with 907 last season.
Achane totaled 1,707 total rushing yards in his opening pair of seasons in a Dolphins uniform, and only two players in team history have finished with more in that span. Abdul-Karim al-Jabbar has the franchise record with 2,008 across 32 games played in the 1996 and 1997 seasons.
Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton seems to believe that Achane could have a career year in store for the coming 2025 season, as he put the 23-year-old on his list of five NFL running backs in the best position for a breakout campaign.
Chase Brown, Ashton Jeanty, Jaylen Warren, and Javonte Williams were on the list as well.
Moton mentioned the fact that veteran running back Raheem Mostert — who totaled quadruple digits in rushing yards in the 2023 season — is no longer with the team when making his rationale for Achane’s inclusion.
Additionally, he referenced some previous comments from Dolphins running backs coach Eric Studesville, who said that the team is set to give Achane more work in the 2025 season.
For as great of a rusher as Achane is, he proved last season that he is a highly skilled receiver to boot. The versatile offensive player totaled 592 receiving yards, six receiving touchdowns, and 30 first downs receiving in his sophomore campaign.
The sky seems to be the limit for Achane in the 2025 campaign with his rushing and receiving chops coupled with Mostert’s departure. All signs point to the notion that he could earn a Pro Bowl nod.
