Domonique Foxworth's biased AFC West take is eye roll-worthy from Chiefs fans

Until the Kansas City Chiefs are dethroned in the AFC West, it should be their division to lose, right? After all, the Chiefs have won nine straight division titles, with their streak beginning in 2016, two years before Patrick Mahomes officially took over as the starting quarterback in K.C.

Not everyone seems to buy into this narrative though. Former NFL cornerback Domonique Foxworth, who spent the first three years of his career with the Denver Broncos, thinks that -- surprise, surprise -- the Broncos will not only win the AFC West for the first time since 2015 but will sweep Kansas City on their way to the division title.

Foxworth argued that the Broncos should have swept K.C. in 2024 but a blocked field goal prevented that from happening. He conveniently left out that the Chiefs benched their starters in that Week 18 finale that saw the Broncos shut out Kansas City's backups and third-stringers because why mention that when it hurts your silly argument?

"The Chiefs are still a great team but unlike the Patriots for 19 years coasting through the weak AFC East, they have legitimate competition in the [AFC] West," Foxworth said. "I'm picking both teams to make the playoffs at 12-5 with Denver sweeping a fatigued Kansas City team to win the West and to end Kansas City's nine-year divisional reign."

Domonique Foxworth unsurprisingly picked Broncos to win AFC West in 2025

It's interesting how Foxworth said the Chiefs would be the fatigued team at 12-5 when he has both teams finishing with the same record but, for whatever reason, the Broncos aren't fatigued. Wouldn't a team that's used to winning every year be the team more prepared while the up-and-comers might more easily flame out?

Truthfully, Chiefs fans are used to hearing all about how their run in the division is coming to an end but typically, the Chargers are the team getting picked to end their divisional dominance. When push comes to shove, the Broncos had one good year after struggling for close to a decade and now we're supposed to believe they're ready to overtake K.C. in the AFC West?

First and foremost, the league has more tape on Bo Nix now so if that's the main argument for the Broncos being better in 2025, they might want to pump the brakes there. Second, the defense was great in 2024 but that could lead to a regression in 2025 especially if the injury bug hits Denver more this year.

Also, I've said this before but until the Chiefs don't win the AFC West, they deserve the benefit of the doubt. Let's see Foxworth's Broncos actually take the crown from them first before we jump to conclusions.

'Tis the offseason though.
