Philadelphia Eagles fans have a deep appreciation for what former quarterback Donovan McNabb has done for the franchise.

McNabb helped take the team to five NFC Championship games, win one of them, and make the Super Bowl. He was a six-time Pro Bowler and is currently in the Eagles Hall of Fame with a chance to cement himself in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the future.

There's no doubt that he was good with the team and is highly regarded as one of the best quarterbacks in the franchise's history. What he said recently will make Eagles fans scratch their heads.

McNabb gives his terrifying take on the NFL MVP conversation

Kay Adams, on her "Up and Adams" show, asked McNabb about the MVP race. Specifically, why he thinks that the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback Dak Prescott is the leader.

"Dak, first of all, has no defense whatsoever. CeeDee Lamb has been hurt. They've been mix and matching different guys. It's pretty much him and they're running the football, yes, but their play action game and their intermediate passing game has been on fire. The reason they are in the position that they are is because of Dak."

The Cowboys are currently sitting at a 2-3-1 record and in third place in the NFC East behind the Washington Commanders and the division-leading Eagles. Prescott and his team lost to the Eagles in the season-opener 24-20 when Dallas didn't score a single point in the second half.

To Prescott's credit, statistically, he's off to a good start, completing over 71% of his passes for 1,617 yards and 13 touchdowns with only three interceptions. Those are good to the point that Eagles fans can even admit that, but to put him in the MVP conversation? That has to be reserved for players who are helping their teams win.

Sure, Prescott is keeping his team in games, but they are still losing (and even tying). An MVP is only worthy to a player who has his team in the playoff hunt and winning.

McNabb betrayed the Eagles for his take, but he can say all he wants. Philly is only concerned with winning, and they need to do so against another former team of McNabb's, the Minnesota Vikings, in Week 7.
