Eagles Announce Coaching Staff Change After Playoff Loss

Less than 48 hours after losing to the San Francisco 49ers on Wild Card weekend, the Philadelphia Eagles have made a change to their coaching staff.

There were some fans who thought the Eagles would fire Nick Sirianni just one year after winning the Super Bowl, but that won't be happening - at least not this offseason. To be fair, we're talking about a coach who has won 69.4% of his games. What will change, however, is Sirianni's supporting cast.

On Tuesday afternoon, Sirianni confirmed that Kevin Patullo won't be retained as Philadelphia's offensive coordinator. It was a tough decision for him to make considering Patullo has been on his staff since 2021.

"I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator," Sirianni said. "I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team's success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career. Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals that responsibility lies on my shoulders."

Familiar territory for the Eagles

When Sirianni first took over the Eagles in 2021, Shane Steichen was his offensive coordinator. Two years later, he lost Steichen to the Indianapolis Colts. Brian Johnson replaced Steichen as the offensive coordinator of the Eagles in 2023. Let's just say that experiment didn't work out.

After firing Johnson in 2024, the Eagles named Kellen Moore their offensive coordinator. He played a huge role in the team's Super Bowl run, leaning heavily on Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts' special abilities as runners. His success ultimately led to him being named the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

Now that Patullo has flamed out in Philadelphia, it's imperative that Sirianni gets the right offensive play-caller for the 2026 season. If he whiffs on this hire yet again, he could find himself on the hot seat.
