Eagles Announce Good News on Wednesday

Lane Johnson has been the missing piece in the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line. The two-time All-Pro offensive tackle has missed seven games in a row due to a foot injury, which he sustained in Philly’s Week 11 win over the Detroit Lions.

Johnson was diagnosed with a Lisfranc sprain in his right foot, which forced him to sit out the latter part of the regular season for the Eagles. The six-time Pro Bowler, however, has been working hard behind the scenes to get himself ready for the NFL playoffs, and it appears that Johnson is finally set to reap the rewards of his labor.

Johnson was an integral part of the Eagles’ championship run last season, and they will need him healthy in the playoffs this year as they look to defend their crown.

The good news for the Eagles is that Johnson is now trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday’s wild-card matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. The team announced on Wednesday that Johnson finally returned to practice after an extended absence.

The last time Johnson practiced was in mid-November before he suffered his midfoot injury. The fact that he was able to practice on Wednesday, albeit in a limited capacity, is a significant step toward his recovery and his potential comeback for Sunday’s big game.

The Eagles practice again on Thursday and Friday, and Johnson’s status for those sessions will be worth monitoring. It would only make sense that the 35-year-old is able to turn in at least one full practice before he’s given the green light to suit up on Sunday against the Niners.

Another crucial development for the Eagles is Jalen Carter’s return to practice. The three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle missed four out of the last five games due to shoulder and hip injuries, but he, too, is making significant progress ahead of the wild-card showdown on Sunday.
