The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to repeat as Super Bowl champions this season, and headed into Sunday’s matchup with the Los Angeles Rams with a 2–0 record, they’re off to a hot start.
A huge reason for the team’s success has been on the ground, as the passing game continues to struggle. Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley have combined for 225 yards on the ground over the team’s first two games of the year.
The Eagles’ offensive line has continued to be as dominant as it was in 2024, and a huge reason for that has been Lane Johnson, Philadelphia’s starting offensive tackle. Johnson is in his 13th season with the Eagles and has built an impressive résumé thus far, continuing to anchor the run game in Philadelphia. The 35-year-old veteran has won two Super Bowls, been selected to six Pro Bowls, and earned two All-Pro honors.
During Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams, Johnson was forced to leave the game in the first quarter.
The team announced moments later he’d be questionable to return with a neck injury. “Injury Update: T Lane Johnson (neck) is questionable to return,” the team wrote on X.
The very next play after Johnson left the game, Hurts was sacked for an eight-yard loss by Poona Ford, highlighting the impact Johnson has even in the latter stages of his career. After opening the game with a touchdown, Philadelphia’s offense went silent. They went scoreless in the first half following Johnson’s departure, with the Rams’ defense dominating at the line of scrimmage and shutting down both the run game and passing attack.

Johnson’s injury will be monitored moving forward as the Eagles attempt to get back into the game heading into the second half, trailing 19–7 at halftime. Johnson signed a one-year extension to his contract in March, keeping him with the Eagles through the 2027 season.
