The Philadelphia Eagles were able to win the second Super Bowl in their history, and it was due in no small part to some great play from their secondary in the big game.
In a recent article by PFF's John Kosko, he ranks who he believes are the top 32 cornerbacks in the entire NFL. Just missing the top 10 at No. 11, they have the Eagles sophomore defensive back Cooper DeJean.
"The highest-ranked rookie from 2024 on the list, DeJean was phenomenal for the Eagles in their Super Bowl run," Kosko wrote. "He ranked second in PFF coverage grade from man and zone-match coverage in 2024 (76.7), third in PFF coverage grade (84.1) and 12th in PFF advanced coverage grade. He did not allow a touchdown on 97 targets."
Many wrote the 22-year-old corner off after the Eagles selected him with the 40th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, but he quickly proved the haters wrong.
DeJean - who is emerging as a media star, too, with his new podcast - finished his rookie year with a solid 51 total tackles considering he only started in nine of the 16 games he appeared in. He did not have an interception in the regular season, but he had one off of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl that gave the Eagles all of the momentum.
DeJean and the rest of the Eagles defense will be looking to help lead the team back to the playoffs to defend the Lombardi Trophy.
