The Philadelphia Eagles have spent the last couple of days juggling roster moves ... mostly at the bottom of the depth chart.
But there can be a related tie to the top of the depth chart, too.
The Brandon Graham transaction has a chance to be a great Super Bowl story as he works to return from injury in time to contribute against the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
And maybe the shuffling leads to that.
More immediately, though?
The centerpiece key for the offense of the Eagles will of course be running back Saquon Barkley. He's in the MVP conversation after his spectacular 2,005-yard regular-season work ... and he's been even better in the playoffs.
The Eagles were No. 2 in the league in rushing yards gained with just a little help from backups Kenneth Gainwell and Will Shipley, who combined for just 105 carries.
But over the weekend came a bit more depth, at least for practice, in the form of the signing of second-year man Lew Nichols III.
Nichols, who joined the practice squad, had been with the Eagles in training camp. He was signed back to the practice squad in December before the yo-yo existence continued as he was waived on Dec. 31.
But ... alas.
Nichols - who some thought might work in practice to mimic the KC backs as the Eagles and Chiefs are in New Orleans this weekend before the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 9 - has now been cut. The Eagles have replaced him, at least for the moment, with tight end Nick Muse.
Tough deal for Nichols. Good deal for Muse. But maybe, on Sunday, a big deal for "BG.''
