Pro Football Focus just can’t seem to figure it out when it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles, and at this point, it’s honestly becoming a joke.
Not long after snubbing Jalen Hurts by ranking him as only the fifth-best quarterback heading into the 2025 season, PFF is back at it again, this time with their list of the NFL’s top 10 head coaches.
And where did Nick Sirianni land? All the way down at No. 8.
Here's what PFF had to say about Sirianni and his "old-school" ways:
Sirianni is often the target of criticism when the Eagles lose, but credit needs to be given when it’s due. He’s an outstanding 48-20 in the regular season as Philadelphia's head coach and has made the playoffs in each of his first four seasons. The Eagles emphatically proved they were the best team in football last season. They were the NFL’s highest-graded team and lost just one game after Week 4.
Philadelphia’s commitment to the run game in 2024 was its biggest adjustment from a confounding 2023. The offense ranked just 13th in run-play percentage in 2023 but led the NFL with a 51.2% clip last season. The Eagles were the only team to run the ball more than throw it. Of course, it helps to have Saquon Barkley, who racked up more than 2,500 rushing yards last year, including the postseason. Sirianni and the Eagles committed to an old-school style of football, and it paid off with a championship.
The coaches in front of Sirianni include, Kansas City Chiefs' Andy Reid, Denver Broncos' Sean Payton, Los Angeles Rams' Sean McVay, Baltimore Ravens' John Harbaugh, Pittsburgh Steelers' Mike Tomlin, Los Angeles Chargers' Jim Harbaugh, and San Franciso 49ers' Kyle Shanahan.
If we're seriously looking at the past five years, it’s almost impossible to justify leaving Sirianni out of the top three when it comes to current head coaches.
Since taking over in Philadelphia, Sirianni has completely transformed the culture, led the Eagles to multiple deep playoff runs, including two Super Bowl appearances, and one Lombardi.
His natural ability to connect with his players following the rough patches and keep his team competitive year after year makes him more than deserving to be ranked higher than No. 8.
But, okay, PFF -- we'll see how all of this doubting the Birds makes you look in 2025.
