Eagles G Landon Dickerson Did Not Consider Offseason Retirement

Dickerson pushed back against the retirement talk on Saturday, denying that ending his playing career was on the table. He admitted, though, that he “probably shouldn’t have gone out there and played” through multiple injuries during the 2025 season.

“I don’t think there’s any reason to be tough and work through it if it’s just going to wear you down,” Dickerson said (via The Athletic’s Zach Berman). “They don’t pay you to be hurt.”

Despite undergoing surgery on his left knee during the offseason and his right knee during training camp, the 27-year-old was still on the field in Week 1 of the regular season last year. He played the entire year, save for a two-game absence due to an ankle injury, but at a lower level than his previous Pro Bowl campaigns as he dealt with lingering effects from his various ailments.

Dickerson is feeling much healthier after a surgery-free offseason that featured a trip to Colombia for stem-cell treatments. His comments also indicate he will be more careful about handling any issues that pop up this year, a crucial change for a player with a lengthy injury history. The Alabama and Florida State product dealt with torn ACLs in both knees and major injuries to both ankles in college and played through a right elbow hyperextension at the end of the 2022 season. The Eagles may also more carefully monitor his practice reps and provide him with additional veteran rest days as the season goes on.
