The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2026 offseason determined to retool their roster after a season that ultimately fell short of expectations. Philadelphia finished the 2025 regular season with an 11-6 record, winning the NFC East, but their postseason run ended quickly with a 23-19 Wild Card loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Despite the strong record, the Eagles underwent several roster changes as the front office began reshaping the team. A number of key defensive players departed in free agency, thinning the depth that had defined Philadelphia’s defensive front in recent seasons.
Amid these departures, Philadelphia had its eyes set on one of the biggest remaining names on the free-agent market: Trey Hendrickson.
But that pursuit has now ended in disappointment. On Wednesday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported that the Baltimore Ravens have now agreed to terms with Hendrickson, ending what had become one of the most competitive pursuits of the offseason. The deal is worth four years and $112 million.
It’s a disappointing blow for Eagles’ General Manager Howie Roseman, who already lost three key defensive players in free agency, with edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, linebacker Nakobe Dean and safety Reed Blankenship departing for new teams on Monday.
A player like Hendrickson would have been a huge addition to Vic Fangio’s defense. The 31-year-old has been one of the NFL’s most productive pass rushers in recent years. He earned four consecutive Pro Bowl selections from 2021-2024 and led the league with 17.5 sacks in 2024, while also posting another 17.5-sack season in 2023.
Russini also revealed the Eagles’ potential backup plan with Hendrickson now off the board. Philadelphia has reportedly maintained communication with the Minnesota Vikings regarding pass rusher Jonathan Greenard.
The Philadelphia Eagles have had lines in to both Trey Hendrickson’s camp as well as Minnesota regarding Jonathan Greenard.

Greenard, a 2024 Pro Bowl selection, recorded 12 sacks, 59 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles in his first season with Minnesota.
The 28-year-old currently plays under a four-year, $76 million contract signed in 2024, which carries an average annual salary of $19 million. Minnesota has reportedly been open to discussing trade possibilities amid salary-cap considerations, and it remains to be seen if Roseman can pull this off.
