Days ago the Philadelphia Eagles lost one of the most important offensive linemen in offensive guard Mekhi Becton. Now it appears that another of their key linemen is leaving for greener pastures.
According to NFL agent Drew Rosenhaus via ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to sign free agent offensive tackle Fred Johnson to a one-year deal. Johnson is coming off his sixth NFL season and second with the Philadelphia Eagles. He appeared in every game for Philadelphia this year, starting four, and appearing in all of their postseason games to boot.
"Jaguars are signing former Eagles offensive tackle Fred Johnson to a one-year deal, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus," Schefter wrote on X.

Jaguars fans were certainly excited by the move given that offensive line is a position of serious need for them:
"Jags needs as much help as possible on O line. Lawrence was running for his life last year," one user asserted.
"The trenches just got stronger in Jacksonville," another declared.
"He was a great backup and did well when he needed to step up. Eagles o-line depth took a hit on this signing," a third remarked.
The Philadelphia Eagles have proven more adept at replacing players when necessary than almost any team in recent memory. But even they may be hard-pressed to adequately replace some of the players who are leaving this offseason.
In the past few weeks they've lost Josh Sweat, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Mekhi Becton, Isaiah Rodgers and Kenneth Gainwell among others. While few of them are bonafide superstars, every piece matters in a Super Bowl run.
Will losing Johnson hurt the Eagles noticeably, or will they simply find a suitable replacement?
