Eagles Make Decision After Jalen Carter News

The Philadelphia Eagles have been among the busiest teams during the early stages of the 2026 offseason, continuing their aggressive approach to roster management after falling short of their ultimate goals last year. General manager Howie Roseman has already overseen several moves designed to maintain the team’s position as one of the NFC’s top contenders, while also preparing for several major contract decisions that could shape the franchise’s long-term future.

One of the biggest storylines surrounding Philadelphia in recent weeks involves standout defensive tackle Jalen Carter. The former Georgia star has quickly become one of the most disruptive interior defenders in the league since entering the NFL, emerging as a centerpiece of the Eagles’ defensive front.

Carter is still playing under his rookie deal, but his contract situation is beginning to attract attention across the league. His fifth-year option for the 2027 season is projected to exceed $27 million, and with elite defensive tackles commanding massive extensions in today’s market, Philadelphia will soon need to decide whether to commit to a long-term deal or explore other possibilities.

A recent report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler confirmed teams around the league have begun monitoring the situation closely. Fowler also noted that Philly is listening to offers for Carter, although it’s unclear if the franchise intends to move him.

While Carter’s situation continues to develop and fans wait to see what the organization ultimately decides regarding the star rusher, the Eagles quietly made another financial move that could ultimately impact their decision to keep him.

On Thursday, Fowler reported that the Eagles and three-time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson agreed to a revised contract worth roughly $36 million over two years. Dickerson had previously been scheduled to earn $39 million across the 2026 and 2027 seasons, but the updated agreement restructures those figures while still allowing him to reach that total through 2027 performance incentives.

Under the new terms, Dickerson is set to earn $15.7 million in 2026, and the revision also removes the final year of his previous deal, meaning he will no longer be under contract in 2028.

The adjustment gives Philadelphia additional financial breathing room while keeping one of its most important offensive linemen firmly in place. Since entering the league in 2021, Dickerson has developed into a cornerstone of the Eagles’ offensive line, earning three Pro Bowl selections while playing a key role in protecting quarterback Jalen Hurts and maintaining one of the league’s most physical rushing attacks.

The move could also help position the Eagles for future negotiations with key defensive stars such as Carter. If Philadelphia intends to keep the young lineman as a long-term pillar of the defense, securing an extension sooner rather than later could ultimately prove the smarter approach. Carter has already established himself as one of the NFL’s most coveted interior defenders, and his next contract will almost certainly reflect that status.
