Jalen Carter and the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a fifth straight loss during Week 7’s edition of “Monday Night Football,” falling to 2-5 on the 2026 NFL season after a 38-21 loss to Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys. Heading into Week 8, the Eagles now look to get back on track despite a heavy injury report, hitting the road to face Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
Despite the poor start to 2026 for Philadelphia, Carter is on track to have the best statistical season of his four-year NFL career. Through seven games, the former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle has totaled 18 tackles, three sacks, two pass deflections and a career-high three forced fumbles.
But ahead of the matchup against Washington, Philadelphia made an error on the injury report that may have scared some fans momentarily.
The Eagles already have a stacked injury report going into Week 8, with stars such as running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver DeVonta Smith missing multiple games over the past few weeks. But on Thursday, Philadelphia initially added Carter to the injury report, listing him as a limited participant with an abdominal injury.
Fortunately for the Eagles faithful, the addition of Carter to the injury report turned out to be a mistake, and the defensive tackle remains healthy going into Week 8. To fix the error, Philadelphia removed Carter from the injury report and added defensive back Michael Carter II, who is actually dealing with an abdominal issue.
Along with Carter II, other notable Eagles players limited in practice on Thursday was safety Marcus Epps (jaw/concussion), defensive tackle Moro Ojomo (neck) and linebacker Nolan Smith Jr. (concussion).
“Update: No injury for Jalen Carter. Michael Carter has an abdomen injury,” The Athletic’s Zach Berman wrote on X.
