Eagles Place G Landon Dickerson On IR

Dickerson’s struggles during yesterday’s win over the Commanders have been well chronicled, with Cayden Steele of NJ.com observing the lineman’s issues with both pass protection and run blocking. The lineman was also called for a holding penalty. Indeed, Pro Football Focus wasn’t a fan of his performance, ranking him last among 62 qualifying guards for his Week 1 performance.

Right after news of Dickerson’s IR placement broke, the lineman made an appearance on SportsRadio 94WIP in Philly. The player admitted that he’s been dealing with an injury since training camp and admitted that he shouldn’t have played during yesterday’s season opener (per EJ Smith of PHLY Sports). The lineman also expressed optimism that he’ll be ready to go when first eligible for activation.

Dickerson is no stranger to the injury report. Dickerson struggled in 2025 as he played through a surgically repaired knee. While the 27-year-old denied rumblings that he was considering retirement this offseason, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo notes that he did need some extra time to decide on his future.

After committing to the 2026 campaign, Dickerson didn’t seem much improved from his underwhelming 2025 performance. As Steele writes, the lineman also struggled during training camp, especially during joint practices with the Patriots. While fans have naturally been questioning the player’s spot in the starting lineup, coach Nick Sirianni has defended the sixth-year player.

“Just like every player on our team from yesterday’s game, and every coach for that matter, there’s good moments and there are moments that we got to fix,” Sirianni said. “That’s where we are. And you know, can’t tell you how much I think of Landon and the player that he is and particularly that power and that size where he can move guys off their spot against their will.”

Dickerson has been a major part of Philly’s recent success. The former second-round pick started 77 of his 78 appearances between 2021 and 2025, plus another 10 playoff starts. For his efforts, he’s earned three Pro Bowl nods and a Super Bowl ring.

The Eagles offensive line remains in flux, as the entire interior unit (including center Cam Jurgens and right guard Tyler Steen) struggled yesterday. The team could get creative with how they line up in Week 2, but at the moment, it would seem like Drew Kendall or Willie Lampkin will be inserted into the starting lineup in place of Dickerson.
