Eagles popular potential breakout star gets new title as 'X-Factor' for 2025

This offseason has been all about the Philadelphia Eagles figuring who to potentially replace guys like Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and Brandon Graham with on the defensive line.

They have looked at young players like Nolan Smith Jr. and Jalyx Hunt to be those guys off the edge. What about Williams' replacement?

Many have pointed to third-year man Moro Ojomo as the guy. Many in the media have pegged him as a potential 2025 breakout star, but ESPN's Ben Solak has a different potential title he would give him: X-Factor.

"Ojomo is fresh off his best NFL season, which went underreported behind the career year from Williams. Ojomo's game is better against the run, and while he had solid pressure production (9.3% pressure rate on 248 pass rushes as compared with Williams' 12.9% on 271 rushes), Ojomo did not bring down the quarterback (zero sacks as compared with Williams' five).

But Ojomo's film was enough that the Eagles made almost no additions behind him on the depth chart, only bringing in fourth-round rookie Ty Robinson. That implies Ojomo will get all of Williams' third-and-long opportunities beside Jalen Carter. If Ojomo can turn his pressures into sacks at a league-average rate, expect him to start getting the same hype Williams did last season."

Ojomo will play a significant role in the Eagles' 2025 Super Bowl title defense run

The Eagles have slowly worked Ojomo up to this point to be a starter on the defense since seeing him as a hidden gem in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft. In 25 career games, Ojomo has racked up 23 tackles (20 of them were from 2024) and five quarterback hits (all from last year).

Back in May, Pro Football Focus was high on Ojomo's potential as he was ranked 32nd among interior defensive linemen. PFF had a 70.4 overall grade with an 82.4 PFF pass-rush grade in 2024.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis will command all the attention for the Eagles, but Ojomo shouldn't be slept on. He has been improving steadily and can be a great pass-rushing defensive tackle. If he can polish his run-stopping skills, he might have the whole package to be a potential Pro Bowl player.

When watching the tape on Ojomo, it's easy to see how good he can be for the Eagles in 2025 and beyond. He's the one guy Eagles fans should keep an eye on.
