Quarterback battles are always fun no matter where they are on the depth chart and it appears that the Eagles have some questions they'll need answered on the depth chart as training camp comes to a close.

Right now, the Eagles have a battle for the third QB spot has become a topic of conversation the past couple of weeks. Right now Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kyle McCord are battling it out and after their week Two performance there isn't a clear answer.

McCord went 8-16 for 47 yards and a touchdown, and Thompson-Robinson went 5-8 for 17 yards and an interception; however, both quarterbacks struggled to find their footing in the past game, with both amassing only 13 points in their Week 2 preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns. With Tanner McKee seemingly locking up the QB2 spot, all eyes will turn on McCord and DTR for their final matchup.

Who should the Eagles go with at QB3 after bad performances against Cleveland?

While playing on the field is always crucial, the final decision may come down to a more financial move when dealing with the two players. While McCord has shown a bit more aggressiveness, it appears that he is still having issues understanding the playbook and expanding his role. DTR, however, has failed to progress in his development in his 3rd season and is in danger of finding himself in quarterback purgatory/unemployed.

When dealing with this particular situation, Eagles general manager Howie Roseman may lean on upside rather than performance. With McCord, the Eagles utilized a draft pick who comes at a cheaper price and could develop just as Tanner McKee has over the past two years. For DTR, the former UCLA alum has already amassed 15 appearances (five starts, 422 snaps) in two years, failing to surpass 1,000 career passing yards while owning a 1:10 TD-INT ratio. DTR also carries a higher salary going into the 2025 season.

With upside, money, and probably a more palatable outing from McCord, it shouldn't surprise Eagles fans if DTR is on the waiver wire come week one. However, as we've seen at the quarterback position, teams have made trades or claims to upgrade the position. McCord and Thompson-Robinson will have one more opportunity in Week 3 to not only showcase their skills for the Eagles but also for the rest of the NFL, in hopes of extending their NFL careers.
