Eagles QB Jalen Hurts taking care of the football at a 'near-record' pace

The maturation of starting quarterback Jalen Hurts has been one of the keys to the Philadelphia Eagles' undefeated 6-0 start.

While Hurts has impressed with his legs and arm this season, the most staggering improvement in Hurts' game has come in the turnover department.

As Reuben Frank of NBC Sports Philadelphia pointed out, Hurts is on a near-record pace for the fewest turnovers in a season. After averaging a turnover every 54 touches in 2021, Hurts has lowered that number significantly to a turnover every 138 touches in 2022.

"At his current pace, he'll become the eighth QB in history to throw 500 passes and throw fewer than six interceptions," Frank wrote. "And despite the way he plays, he hasn't lost a fumble yet."

Heading into this Sunday's contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Hurts has turned the ball over only twice this season, both on interceptions.

Hurts is a big reason behind the Eagles' league-leading +12 turnover differential, dwarfing the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys, who sit tied for second at +6.

In his second full season at the helm for Philly, Hurts has posted 123 completions for 1,514 yards with six passing touchdowns and two interceptions. Meanwhile, Hurts has rushed for 293 yards off 77 attempts with six scores on the ground.
