Eagles RB Saquon Barkley Receives News Away From Football

Saquon Barkley and the Philadelphia Eagles secured their third-straight win in Week 10, jumping to 7-2 on the 2025 NFL season after taking down Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers on "Monday Night Football." Now, the Eagles will turn their attention to Week 11 with an elite matchup against the Detroit Lions on "Sunday Night Football."

While Barkley hasn't necessarily had the same statistical season he had one year ago, rushing for over 2,000 yards, the former Penn State running back has remained effective for Philadelphia. Through nine games, Barkley has tallied 149 carries for 579 yards and four touchdowns, adding 27 catches for another 200 yards and two scores through the air.

But Barkley has done much more than play football during his time in the NFL. In fact, in 2020 when he was still with the New York Giants, Barkley started the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Foundation, which was named after his late grandmother. The foundation was made to "support underserved youth and families to achieve success in athletics and academics."

And ahead of the Eagles vs. Lions matchup, Barkley received some exciting news as his foundation will be honored as the Community Support Champion at the 14th Annual Philadelphia UNCF Mayor's Masked Ball, which is a fundraising gala hosted by Philadelphia mayor Cherelle L. Parker.

"We’re honored to be named the 2026 Community Support Champion by @uncf at the annual Mayor’s Masked Ball, hosted by The Honorable Cherelle L. Parker," the Michael Ann & Saquon Barkley Foundation wrote on Instagram. "This recognition reflects our commitment to uplifting youth and families through athletics, academics, and life. Together with this year’s incredible honorees, we’ll continue building hope, breaking barriers, and empowering the next generation. "

While Barkley continues to shine off the field, he will look to help the Eagles secure their eighth win of the season, facing the Lions on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET.
