The Philadelphia Eagles suffered defeat for a third straight game on Monday night. Their latest loss came against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium, as Justin Herbert and Co. escaped with a 22-19 overtime victory.
Jalen Hurts struggled mightily in the game, completing 21-of-40 passes for 240 yards, zero touchdowns and four interceptions. The reigning Super Bowl MVP was picked off on the final play of the game during the extra period, resulting in another loss for the reigning champions.
Another player who suited up for the Eagles on Monday is long snapper Cal Adomitis. As it turns out, that would be the 27-year-old’s final game for Philadelphia.
Monday’s loss impacted the Eagles’ title defense. Philadelphia is now 8-5 but remains atop the NFC North, ahead of the Dallas Cowboys, despite losing three in a row. However, after Monday’s defeat, they fell further back of the No. 2 spot in the conference standings behind the 9-3-1 Green Bay Packers, who are riding a four-game winning streak. The Los Angeles Rams currently occupy the top seed in the NFC with a 10-3 record.
The Eagles wasted no time making their next roster move following the tough loss to L.A. This came in the form of Adomitis’ release after nine games played. The Eagles announced their decision on Tuesday.

Adomitis joined Philadelphia earlier this season amid Charley Hughlett’s injury. The Eagles placed their regular long snapper on injured reserve before Week 5 due to a core issue, but Hughlett is now eligible to return. At this point, it appears that Hughlett is in line to resume his usual role for Philly’s next game, which is on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
This development left no room for Adomitis on the roster, and he now sees his Eagles tenure come to an end after playing 81 snaps with the special teams. The former Pittsburgh Panthers standout will now become an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any NFL team.
The Eagles have the perfect opportunity to get a win in their next game and get their title defense back on track. They host the 2-11 Raiders at Lincoln Financial Field for Week 15, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET.
