The theme of the season for the Philadelphia Eagles has been playing shorthanded due to injury issues. That theme will continue for the team’s Monday night matchup against the rival Dallas Cowboys.

Following their final practice of the week ahead of the game against Dallas, the Eagles ruled out several key contributors.

DeVonta Smith, Nolan Smith Headline List of Eagles Ruled Out for Monday Night Football

The Eagles ruled out four players for the game against Dallas, including their top two wide receivers in DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and Dontayvion Wicks (ankle). On the other side of the ball, safety Michael Carter II and linebacker Nolan Smith (concussion) were also ruled out.

Several other players, including running back Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and Jalyx Hunt (ankle) were listed as questionable. The final status for those guys will be revealed closer to kickoff on Monday.

Keep in mind, the Eagles will already be without star quarterback Jalen Hurts for the contest due to blood clots.

So for those keeping count, that means the Eagles will be without their starting QB, their two top receivers, and if Barkley doesn’t, play they’ll also be without their starting running back for a third consecutive game. That many key absences is tough for any team to overcome, the Eagles included. The odds will not be in Philadelphia’s favor heading into the game.

Dallas Cowboys Injury Report

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are much healthier than the Eagles heading into Monday Night Football, but they also ruled out a few players for the contest including wide receiver KaVontae Turpin, offensive tackle Drew Shelton and linebacker Dee Winters. Meanwhile, offensive tackle Broderick Jones and linebacker Marist Liufau are both listed as questionable for Dallas.

While any absences are unfortunate, the Cowboys have much less to overcome in that department than the Eagles do.
