The Philadelphia Eagles flexed their might against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday in a 40-22 Super Bowl LIX win, securing the second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history.
The win was followed up with a parade through downtown Philadelphia that included plenty of memorable moments and appearances from Eagles players, coaches and front office members along with city of Philadelphia officials.
The parade included a stark admission from superstar running back Saquon Barkley, who shared thoughts on his 2024 offseason departure from the team that drafted him and helped make him a household name among NFL fans, the New York Giants.
Barkley admitted that he planned to stay with the Giants for his entire career prior to landing with coach Nick Sirianni's Eagles.
"When you're at one place and you think that's where you wanna be and retire there, and then life happens," Barkley said.
"And I came here. Now I couldn't imagine playing anywhere else," the three-time Pro Bowler added.
Barkley sat on downtown Philadelphia's Rocky Balboa steps basking in the afterglow of the Eagles' championship at Friday's parade. He described his current situation in flattering terms.
"This is part of the whole journey of winning," Barkley said. "It's the stuff you dream about as a kid."
