Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown and Washington Commanders cornerback Marshon Lattimore got into a skirmish during last Sunday's NFC Championship Game.
There was some pushing and shoving between them on back-to-back plays, leading to Lattimore getting a penalty, not Brown. It stunned the NFL community since both players deserved a penalty but only one got called.
Despite Brown not getting called for a penalty, he was the only one who got fined by the NFL this weekend. Brown got fined $11,255 for pulling Lattimore's facemask off during one of the skirmishes.
Brown should've been called for a facemask penalty during the moment but the NFL got it right a week later and punished him for it.
The Eagles were up 20-12 at the time of the penalty but quickly made it 27-12 after the Commanders fumbled the next kickoff. The Eagles gave up a field goal after that but were still up 27-15 at halftime.
The Commanders were down 34-23 going into the fourth quarter but couldn't get anything going and ultimately lost 55-23. They had a heck of a season, getting to their first NFC Championship Game since the 1991-92 season.
Brown will pay this fine whenever he gets a chance but his sole focus is helping the Eagles win their second Super Bowl title. The Eagles are set to play in their second Super Bowl in the last three years and will try to avenge their loss against the Chiefs from Super Bowl LVII.
They were up for over three-quarters of the contest before the Chiefs outscored them 17-8 in the fourth quarter and won 38-35.
They have star running back Saquon Barkley this time and we'll see if he can be the difference when Super Bowl LIX kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 9. FOX will have national coverage of the contest.
