The Philadelphia Eagles began OTAs in the past couple of weeks as they begin the 2025-26 season as the reigning Super Bowl champions.

In the NFL Playoffs last season, the Eagles had a dominant run, beating some of the NFC's best teams.

After beating the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders to solidify their spot in Super Bowl LIX, Philadelphia put on a show against the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 40-22.

As the Eagles look to repeat the same outcome as last year, they will be without some important pieces for the upcoming season.

Edge rusher Josh Sweat, cornerback Darius Slay, and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be suiting up with different teams while linebacker Brandon Graham announced his retirement.

With this being said, the Eagles traded up in the first round of 2025 to select linebacker Jihaad Campbell out of the University of Alabama with the 31st pick.

Campbell had 119 total tackles, five sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception for the Crimson Tide in 2024.

Unfortunately, he suffered a torn labrum in the team's final game of the season last year and needed to surgery to repair the shoulder injury.

Vic Fangio provides update on first-round pick Jihaad Campbell

As Campbell recovers from the labrum surgery he had done in March, he won't be practicing with the Eagles in the team's OTAs.

Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio provided an update on the first-round pick on Tuesday, saying that he won't practice until August as he recovers from the injury.

With the update on Campbell, Fangio also mentioned that linebacker Nakobe Dean doesn't have a timetable to return and won't be back anytime soon.

Dean suffered a torn patellar tendon in his left knee in the Eagles' Wild Card matchup against the Green Bay Packers on Jan. 12.

Although the Eagles still look just as dominant as they were last year on the offensive side of the ball, there will be some new faces for them on defense in the 2025-26 season.
