Eagles WR DeVonta Smith 'excited' to learn from A.J. Brown

One of the biggest moves made on the opening night of the 2022 NFL Draft had little to do with a rookie entering the league. It instead involved the Tennessee Titans trading star wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Brown has since admitted that leaving the Titans this spring is "kind of bittersweet" but also added that catching passes thrown by "best friend" Jalen Hurts is "going to be real special." 2021 first-round pick DeVonta Smith spoke with reporters on Wednesday and explained he's hyped to pick the brain of the one-time Pro Bowl selection.

"I’m excited, just to learn from a guy like him," Smith said of Brown, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "Anytime you play football, you watch all the different receivers, just seeing what everybody has in their toolbox. So him being here, just being able to learn from him [is good]."

Per ESPN stats, Smith led all Philadelphia players as a first-year pro last season with 64 catches, 104 targets, 916 receiving yards and five touchdown catches, and the 23-year-old did so without having somebody like Brown attract attention from defensive backs during games.

Considering the changes seen to the receiver market this offseason, Smith theoretically could benefit from this trade as much as Hurts beginning in September.
