Elite recruit and brother of NFL All-Pro sends shockwaves with latest decision ahead of Texas visit

The Texas Longhorns might've been discouraged last week when elite four-star cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick committed to Georgia, but Tuesday night's news was far more damaging for their efforts. Texas was set to host Fitzpatrick on campus this coming weekend for an official visit.

Instead, Fitzpatrick "shut down his recruitment," per On3's Hayes Fawcett. The No. 4 cornerback in the 2026 class is solely considering Georgia now.

The 6-foot, 195-pounder from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is the brother of former Alabama All-American and current NFL star Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Tide were never a major factor in his recruitment without Nick Saban heading the program.

Fitzpatrick cancelled two visits, including his June 13 trip to Texas and June 20 trip to Ohio State. Miami and Florida were also in the race for his services, but his May 30 visit to Georgia proved fateful.

Minkah quickly went on to becoming the No. 11 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins before getting traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The multi-time Pro Bowler and NFL All-Pro is on pace for a Hall of Fame NFL career.

The Longhorns have one cornerback in their 2026 class already, four-star Hayward Howard Jr. from Louisiana. They have 17 scholarship offers to cornerbacks, and four-star Samari Matthews is projected to land with Texas by On3.
