It seemed liked a no-brainer decision for ESPN to hire Jason Kelce in 2024. And yet, the former Philadelphia Eagles star hasn't found his footing with the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
Kelce has been featured on "Monday Night Countdown" for the past two NFL seasons. While an argument can be made that he should have a larger role at ESPN, the company's latest decision doesn't make much sense.
ESPN has decided to send Kelce to Augusta National to cover the Par 3 Contest for the 90th edition of the Masters. He showed up to this event Wednesday in a full caddie outfit.
An argument can be made that ESPN is trying to find different ways to utilize Kelce's skillset. That's the only explanation for the network's top minds sending him to the most prestigious golf club in the country.
Judging by the early reactions online though, golf fans don't want to see Kelce covering the Masters in any capacity.
"ESPN really has no idea how to utilize Kelce," one person declared.
"Serious question, what does Jason Kelce have to do with the Masters," a fan asked.
"I'm sure he's a nice guy, but the over saturation of this guy in everything on ESPN is wild," another fan said.
"Networks are so desperate for Taylor swift that they are using 2nd and 3rd order connections and jamming it down our throats," a social media user added. "Please stop this. The only reason anyone cares about Jason and Kelce is because his brother is marrying Taylor."

According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, ESPN is expected to tweak its No. 2 broadcast crew for "Monday Night Football." Chris Fowler, Dan Orlovsky and Louis Riddick led that team in 2025.
Marchand said Kelce has emerged as a “dark horse candidate” to replace Orlovsky and Riddick.
If Kelce ends up getting promoted to the No. 2 crew for "Monday Night Football," there'll be plenty of outrage online.
We'll see if ESPN finds how to properly utilize Kelce before the public completely turns on him.
