Bo Nix impressed during his rookie season in being one of the top young quarterbacks in the NFL. Mike Tannenbaum now expects him to be even better than that with another year of development in Denver.

‘Get Up’ discussed whether three second-year quarterbacks, Nix as well as Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams, would ‘slump or jump’ this fall on Friday. With Nix, Tannenbaum is anticipating more than a jump from him as he said he’s looking at a vault by him, in large part to what he’ll have going into year two with the Broncos.

“I’m going jump and, if it was a leap, I would say it’s a leap,” said Tannenbaum. “He’s going to be massively improved for a number of reasons.”

“First full offseason with Sean Payton. Look for the turnovers to come down,” Tannenbaum explained. “RJ Harvey, a second-round pick? You know, outstanding receiver out of the backfield, think Alvin Kamara. And them, Evan Engram. Great pass-receiving tight end. Look for his completion percentage to go up.

Nix, as their starter and a team captain, completed 66.3% of his throws as a rookie last season for 3,775 yards with 29 touchdowns, while scoring five more with four in rushing and one receiving score, and 12 interceptions. That had him sixth in completions, attempts, and passing touchdowns, still seventh in picks thrown, but also twelfth in passing yardage in the National Football League. That had him third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting behind Daniels and TE Brock Bowers. It also led Denver to have a Top-10 offense, scoring 25 points while putting up 324.6 yards per game, as well as a 10-7 record that got them back into the playoffs, in an AFC Wild Card spot, for the first time since 2015.

Now, with having played a year, Nix should already be a little bit better having that experience. Include returning his top three receivers and five of his top-seven targets while adding more weapons in free agency and the draft and Nix will have all he needs to continue to produce, if not produce even more, in his second season.

Nix was the last of those six, first-round quarterbacks to be drafted in 2024. However, after already exceeding in year one, he is in position to do so again in year two in Mile High.

“Bo Nix has a great second year,” Tannenbaum predicted.
