ESPN Predicts Jets Trading Away Offensive Star This Offseason

The New York Jets head into the offseason with plenty of uncertainty. 2024 was a season to forget, as they came in with playoff aspirations but instead finished with just five wins.

Along the way, owner Woody Johnson fired both head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas.

The Jets have already begun conducting interviews to fill both positions, but it's also unclear whether they plan to bring back their four-time NFL MVP and 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He himself has yet to make a decision about whether to retire or not. If he chooses to come back, there's no guarantee the new front office would be interested in keeping him.

Regardless, the New York Jets are in for many changes this offseason, and ESPN's Ben Solak also predicts they will trade running back Breece Hall, their 23-year-old rising star.

This comes as a surprise, considering there's been much chatter about another Jets offensive star, Garrett Wilson, potentially being dealt.  On New Year's Day, he shot down any truth to those rumors. Solak mentioned that when predicting, Hall would be the one traded.

"While receiver Garrett Wilson is the buzzy trade candidate these days, the Jets will end up trading their other young offensive star, Breece Hall," Solak wrote. "It's a bad year for free agent running backs, but some teams will be looking for a similar veteran boost to those the Eagles, Ravens and Packers found on the veteran market last offseason. Hall's injuries are starting to catch up to him, and the Jets would be wise to move on from him early, while he still has some value leaguewide -- especially with young backs Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis showing promise."

Hall recently wrapped up his third season in the NFL after being drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft.

The former Iowa State Cyclone played only seven games in his rookie season after suffering a torn ACL. He came back in Year 2 and played all 17 games, but this past season, he dealt with an MCL and hyperextension issue in the same knee that kept him sidelined in 2022.

He only missed one game in 2024 but it could still be a concern for the Jets moving forward. Regardless, when on the field, he's been a force.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound back recorded 209 carries for 876 yards and five touchdowns this season.
