ESPN Pundit Absolutely Believes The Steelers Are Legit Frauds

The Pittsburgh Steelers offense is flying high with Russell Wilson at quarterback. Over the past three games, Wilson has breathed new life into the passing game, opening up big plays and adding a dynamic element that the team lacked last season. This surge in offensive production has led many to believe that Pittsburgh could be a legitimate Super Bowl contender, especially when paired with their already formidable defense.

Despite the optimism, some lingering questions remain about the Steelers’ ability to sustain this offensive momentum against tougher opponents. While their defense has consistently dominated, the fact that Pittsburgh is now able to win games thanks to offensive firepower marks a promising shift in their identity. Wilson’s presence has also boosted the confidence of the Steelers’ supporting cast, including receivers and offensive linemen who are stepping up and thriving under the revamped offensive scheme.

However, ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth shared a more cautious perspective on Get Up Tuesday morning, expressing doubts about whether the Steelers are true contenders just yet. While acknowledging Wilson’s impact, Foxworth questioned the offense's consistency and ability to carry the team, noting that they still have hurdles to overcome to compete with elite AFC teams.

"When you said legit, that's the one that makes me go to fiction," Foxworth said. "If you could say Super Bowl contenders, I'll be like, 'Yeah, they get in the tournament and maybe they can get hot.' But then you say legit, that's like, 'I assume that they're going to get there.' No, this team is playing well now. Their defense is going to be good no matter where you put 'em or who they play against. But their offense consists of Russell [Wilson] throwing up contested balls to [George] Pickens and Mike Williams now and that to me doesn't feel like much of an offense."

Foxworth isn’t dismissing the improvements he’s seen from the Steelers’ offense or Wilson’s impact. He’s simply highlighting that some of Wilson’s biggest, game-changing plays have come from risky deep throws, relying on receivers to make contested catches.

For Foxworth, that approach leaves questions unanswered; he’s not yet convinced that the Steelers can consistently win games with their offense alone.

"Our hangup is with their offense, and their offense hasn't been put in a situation where they have to carry this team," Foxworth said. "It's gonna happen at some point in this run and certainly in a three-game run to the Super Bowl. There's going to come a situation where you can't just throw it up to Pickens and I don't think anyone believes that this offense is capable of winning that way."

The Steelers' offense is showing flashes that Steeler Nation hasn’t seen in years. It’s an exciting time, though fans should approach with a bit of caution. Some of the game-changing plays have been risky deep passes, but Wilson has built his career on his signature moon ball throws, trusting his receivers to make big plays.

While luck can play a role, this is Wilson’s style—and if those deep passes didn’t connect, the Steelers might be facing a very different narrative right now. That is the point that Foxworth is making.

Steelers' Offense Continues To Get Better With Russell Wilson

It’s fair to have questions about this offense, but it’s also hard to deny the Steelers’ legitimacy as Super Bowl contenders. The run game is heating up with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, providing a balanced attack. Mike Williams is only getting more comfortable in this offense, and Wilson’s growing trust in him signals even more big plays ahead.

Meanwhile, George Pickens is playing some of his best football, and the offensive line, despite dealing with injuries, has been performing with heart and resilience. A real test of this offense’s staying power will come in Week 11 against the Baltimore Ravens, where pundits and fans will get a clearer picture of what this team can do.
