With the NFL's regular season officially wrapped up and the playoff seeding set, ESPN has released its latest prediction for which team it thinks will be hoisting the Lombardi in Super Bowl 59.
The network's Football Power Index projections are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date and the remaining schedule. And as it stands right now, one fan base is going to be very happy.
According to ESPN Analytics, Dan Campbell and the Detroit Lions have the best shot of winning the Super Bowl and bringing the Motor City its first ever ring.
The Lions hold a 26.4% chance of taking home the Super Bowl LIX trophy — which is nearly 12 percentage points higher than the next best team.
Only the Baltimore Ravens (14.7%) and Kansas City Chiefs (11.1%) are being given a double-digit percent chance to win it all. With the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles rounding out the top-five at 9.7% and 8.3% respectively.
Of all the playoff teams, Mike Tomlin's Pittsburgh Steelers are being given the lowest chance of adding to their trophy case (1.5%). The Steelers haven't won a playoff game since 2016 and are entering the postseason riding a four-game losing streak to end the year.
Detroit finished first in the NFC with a 15-2 record thanks to a gutsy win over the division rival Vikings to secure the No. 1 seed and avoid falling to five on Sunday night.
If all goes according to plan ESPN predicts a Lions-Chiefs Super Bowl at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans — highlighted by a performance from Kendrick Lamar at halftime.
