NFL Draft Analyst Evan Silva released his first mock draft, and with two picks in Round 1, he has Miami selecting.
“The rebuilding Dolphins need to devote their two first-round picks to safe bets at premium positions. The cleanest of this year’s top cornerback prospects, Delane yielded a paltry 31.0 passer rating when targeted last year.”
Delane is one of the top cornerbacks in a CB-rich draft. He excels in press coverage, altering release timing with punches and slides. Smooth hips and efficient footwork keep him connected in man coverage, while his processing allows for quick transitions in off-man and short zone looks. He has good top-end speed for vertical phasing but is inconsistent turning to find the football. While he locks in on the route at times, he’s rarely oblivious to the quarterback’s actions, allowing him to slam catch windows shut and play the football. He played through a core muscle injury for much of the 2025 season and still performed at an elite level. Delane’s emergence over the past two years might be indicative of what’s to come, as he’s shown lockdown potential.
“Miami’s pass-catcher room is all but empty. A playmaker with the ball in his hands, Concepcion scored twice on punt returns in 2025, broke out at an early age, and has a knack for creating separation at all levels of the field. He’s a ready-made Jaylen Waddle replacement.”
Concepcion offers immediate burst and separation into space. He’s elusive in beating press and getting into breaks with minimum damage from handsy coverage. While he has a one-speed approach, he can snap off routes with alarming suddenness, making him extremely difficult to match at leveraged break points. He’s instinctive against zone. He’s also a nightmare for man coverage on choice routes and near the goal line. He’s quicker than fast, with more value on utility throws utilizing run after catch. Concepcion’s ability to quickly uncover should be very appealing to teams with spotty protection and a young quarterback.
