The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chase Lucas to a one-year deal, reports Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
Lucas was a restricted free agent, but the 49ers opted not to offer him a qualifying tendered contract, allowing him to sign anywhere.

Lucas entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft pick (237th overall) out of Arizona State in 2022, selected by the Detroit Lions. He spent his first two seasons in Detroit, appearing in 18 regular-season games and three postseason contests primarily as a special teams contributor.
In March 2024, Lucas signed a one-year contract with the 49ers and spent the season on the practice squad. He signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January 2025.
During the 2025 regular season, Lucas appeared in 15 games for the 49ers. He recorded nine tackles and was credited with one pass defensed. While he played only 98 defensive snaps, the defensive back logged 204 on special teams, contributing to that unit's improvement in 2025.
Over his NFL career, Lucas has appeared in 33 games. He has accumulated career totals of 15 tackles and one pass defensed. He has also appeared in multiple postseason games between the Lions and the 49ers.
