Amari Cooper could be a good fit for NFC team

After a struggle-filled season 2024 season, former Dallas Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper is predicted to make his third stop in two seasons to begin 2025.

Last year, Cooper started with the Cleveland Browns — his first stop after Dallas — then was traded to the Buffalo Bills midseason.

Now a free agent, it is likely the former top-5 pick will be on the move again.

SB Nation has predicted that the Green Bay Packers could pair him with quarterback Jordan Love.

Love is fresh off securing a four-year, $220 million contract with the Packers, and bringing in a dependable veteran may be an investment in his development.

Green Bay also is limited in the wide receiver room, with just Jayden Reed making any notable contributions a season ago.

If he can return to form, Cooper may be a valuable asset for an already-efficient Packers offense. Green Bay finished in the top 10 in the NFL in points per game (27.1) and total yards per game (370.8).

A big target like Cooper will benefit Love in his 8.2 yards-per-attempt last season, the fourth best in football.

However, Cooper was not his normal self in 2024, accumulating just 44 receptions for 547 yards and four touchdowns — all career-lows.

In Dallas, Cooper surpassed 1,000 yards receiving in two of his four seasons with the Cowboys from 2018-21.

He had a career-high in receptions (92) in 2020, but in the four seasons since, he has not hit 80 catches in a season.

While Cooper may be in a "prove it" situation, Spotrac still predicts him to command a salary almost $19 million per year.

If the Packers are willing to make the investment, it may pay off in the short term with a rejuvenated Cooper, and in the long-term giving Jordan Love a chance to improve with a big target to throw to.
